how to cloak an affiliate link

    Hello:

I wonder what you guys think is the best way to cloak an affiliate link. Currently I used one click-tracking software, it is all right. But the thing is after my click is clicked, it will lead the visitors to sale pages and at the moment, the URL of salepage, my hop link will show up. So ppl can easily take out my nickname and as such I won't get commssion.

I wonder if there is sfotware or service, after they click my link, on the salepage it will still shows the normal URL without my identification code there.

    thanks

    Hi Richard,

I'm going to implement a link cloaking service for all members in the future. Until then keep using your current methods. Some websites will force the hoplink to be displayed whilst others won't. I'll have more details for you in the future.

If you want to cloak an affiliate link so that it appears from your own domain name (eg, you want to cloak http://yoursite.com/affiliateid=?39843 into something like http://yoursite.com/click) then I'd recommend using a 301 redirect.

This is a very straightforward process. All you need to do is edit your .htaccess file for your website and add the following line: I've also set up a quick & easy link shortner & cloaker tool over at bum.ph - just simply enter your affiliate link and it will give you a link from the bum.ph domain in a format that will go directly to the target URL.
